- HyperTEX is designed to allow you to create, edit, and read
- hypertext documents. For information about what a hypertext
- document is and how it can benefit you immensely to switch to
- a hypertext format the file 'HYPERTEX.DOC' provides you with all the
- basic information you need to get going. But first! To begin your
- exploration of the world of hypertext and the uses of HyperTEX,
- you need to know four things:
-
- 1) When reading a hyperdocument, make use of the TAB and RETURN
- keys to traverse links. Links usually look like this. So
- press the TAB key to highlight the link (you can also use
- the cursor or arrow keys) and press RETURN to get connected.
-
- 2) To familiarize yourself with how to read the documentation
- which tells you about HyperTEX, type 'htread httutor.doc' at
- the DOS prompt. (NOTE: you can read any hyperdocument created
- with HyperTEX in this fashion.)
-
- 3) The ESC key is used for exiting whatever you are doing.
-
- 4) The F1 key provides you with HELP when you use The HyperTEX
- control program (HYPERTEX.EXE) or when you are creating/editing
- a hyperdocument with the system (with HTEDIT or HTNEW). NOTE
- that you can also write a help file for use with the HyperTEX
- reader program.
-
- BEFORE you do anything else, though, make sure that you BACKUP ALL
- the files which came with this package. They should be:
-
- Program and System Files: This File:
-
- HYPERTEX.EXE HTEX.TXT README.1ST
